New York start-ups need to apply soon for summer program
Applications for NYC Seedstart 2010 are due by Feb. 28. Those selected will be awarded $20,000 in start- up funding, mentoring and investment pitch opportunities.NYC Seed has announced a new summer program called SeedStart 2010, which will provide 10 New York startups with $20,000 in venture capital funding each, plus mentoring from some of the city's most successful VCs and a chance to pitch investors.
Companies will be selected through a competitive application process, and each company will receive a $20,000 investment. Throughout the summer, companies will also receive mentorship from experienced New York City-based venture capitalists and entrepreneurs, legal and business guidance, administrative help and technical assistance. At the end of the summer, venture capitalists and angel investors will be invited to an Investor Day where each team will present their product and launch their company.
SeedStart is a joint effort of Contour Venture Partners, IA Ventures, NYC Seed, RRE Ventures and Polaris Venture Partners, and it also includes Fish & Richardson, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips and Silicon Valley Bank. Startups must apply here by Feb. 28. SeedStart will run for eight weeks, beginning in June.
